On February 9th, at Crescent School in Toronto, Canada’s best teams of tween readers met at the Kids’ Lit Quiz National Final last night.
Internationally known Quiz Master, Wayne Mills MNZM, quizzed the 7 finalist teams with a series of complex literature questions. Southridge School took an early and convincing lead. Their book knowledge and gamesmanship proved a winning combination!

Simply knowing the answer is not enough though! Teams buzz in for the chance to respond first! Teams are awarded 2 points for correct answers and deducted 1 for incorrect responses.

From the 100 teams from public and independent schools across Canada only the top 7 teams advanced to the National Final. Four of the top teams were from TDSB schools with two Toronto/Hamilton independent schools meeting the BC champs from Southridge to vie for the title.

The new national champions will represent Canada at the KLQ World Final being held in Connecticut in July. There, they will meet teams of big readers from around the world. Last year the UK champs won the World title.
A recent article in Peace Arch News* highlighted the championship team from Southridge School.
